It all started with a layout bug being raised which caused the existing daily digest template to look broken when opened in certain email applications on a mobile device.
I saw this as an opportunity to build and design a whole new email template which could be used across all Songkick's email correspondence. During this process, I worked closely with a UX designer, looking at the performance of our existing design and how best to improve the onward journey.
My process for the design of this template was purely driven by what is capable when designing email templates. Building prototypes and sending myself example emails using our email service provider was a fast and efficient way to see how the template would behave on a variety of devices. Once I was happy with how the template looked, I paired with a developer using the raw HTML I had created and assisted in turning this into a working email template.
After the completion of this project, I took ownership of all Songkick email templates, covering transactional emails sent from the ticketing platform, customer support templates to artist pre-sale announcement emails.
