A Week in Whitby
After 2 weeks on the road, we take a break in the Yorkshire town of Whitby where we encountered some spooky ghost stories and delightful coastal walks.

The morning after our night in the charming village of Blanchland, we set off to the coast for a week in Whitby. We decided to break the journey up once again, and headed for a spot of lunch and a stroll in Durham - another new place for us to tick off the list.
We parked the car and headed up to have a look at Durham Cathedral and Castle — both very impressive, but I was more taken in by the brutalist charm of the Students Union building. As pleasant as Durham is, it's not really a place either of us would go back to unless we had a reason to, so as soon as we had a bite to eat we were on the road to Whitby.
Why Whitby? Well, I had to break up the holiday and work remotely for a week so we wanted to base ourselves somewhere where Emma could keep herself entertained during the day, as well as being somewhere that wasn't 'just another city'.
As it happens, Whitby Steampunk Weekend started the day we arrived. Although, we did find this out via a local shopkeeper after we asked why so many people were walking around the town in costumes.
